Almost there

I have been trying to get my house in some kind of order since August. Being the only daughter, with 3 brothers, it fell my lot to have to sort through our mothers' possessions after her death this past July. My house (which is not all that large) has been completely filled with boxes and furniture from her house. I have finally completed going through all the boxes and deciding what to do with most of her things. It became depressing for awhile until I realized it had taken me only 3 months to sort through 80+ years of life and 42 years of marriage. Today, I can actually see the floors in my home and my goal is to FINALLY get my house clean. I know this doesn't seem much to most but it will be a big accomplishment to me. When this is finished, I can finally get back to my life and remember the past and Mom with much love. At times, as I went through her things, I became very frustrated and wondered why in the world she would keep such mundane and useless things. I also realized I am very much like her. Therefore, there will be a huge yard sale this spring with me cleaning out many useless and mundane possessions I thought I must keep. Funny how things lose there importance when you have to go through an experience like this.

Good job, Mama, on your site. I like it and will be a regular "blogger" to your site (like I am with Greg's). Keep these coming!

Hi: I'm from Lausanne, Switzerland and the word on Greg's site said to come here and check out your blog. I have to say, it's much better written than Greg's. I see where the intelligence genes went.

We have one entire room filled with Wife's dad's stuff. He died one year ago. His house will sell tomorrow. We feel many of the things you must be feeling now. But do hang in there. bmdtxb

Your description of Greg makes me want to hee-haw. I know what you mean about the mundane stuff one keeps after a spouse passes away. We had a garage sale last week. In going through my mom’s things I found a certificate that belonged to my Dad. It was a certificate from the Mason’s congratulating him on becoming a 32nd degree Mason, what ever that means. It was like looking at something from the movie “National Treasure.” Yet, that mundane certificate now sits on top of my dresser. I miss my folks.

Welcome to our group of “blones.”

Welcome to the fast-paced world of blogging. You and Greg compose the second brother/sister team in blogland. Although, I have seen Beth comment on Randy's site...she's Brady's sister. Hmmm. But no blog of her own so I'm not sure that counts. We'll call you guys the 2 and a 1/2th sibling team.

For those of you who are math-impaired, that's pronounced "two and a halfth."
