I have almost finished my 7 on and it feels like we have worked 7 days of weekend (the holidays and all). It has been a booger in the ER.

Now, I have a question. I know only 3 people read this site, but I would really like some insight to this. I have been reading in Ezekiel (on my way through the Bible) and was reading where the angel was measuring the temple to be rebuilt. In chapter 43, it talks about the glory of God coming back to the temple through the east gateway. I went back to when the glory of God left the temple and it went out the east gate and stood over the Mt. Then the N.T. talks of the star being seen in the East, the wisemen coming from the east, Christ will appear in the east. Seems to be some major importance placed on the east and I was just wondering why. What is the significance of the EAST.
So, if the preacher, the elder and friend who read this site have any input, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks - hope your holidays were enjoyable.

I'm still looking for that GPS unit I bought for your "brother." Rats, I let the GPS out of the bag. We'll await the preacher's answer and then try to clean up "the mess." (a little minister / elder humor)

Well, asuming I'm the preacher, here goes! I know your looking for great wisdom and insight, but hey, it's just me.

I think the significance of the east has to do with the sun. The sun rises in the east and is, in a way, the beginning of life for our day.

Jesus came from the east and is the rising of eternal life.

Here is a quote I found on the internet that is of interest to the conversation.

"In the world . . . east is the direction where the sun rises at the equinoxes. . . . But in heaven, east is the direction where the Lord is seen as the sun, . . . and all the major regions are determined with reference to the east. The reason why the east is where the Lord is seen as the sun is that all life comes from the Lord as the sun. And as much as the angels accept warmth and light, or love and intelligence, from the Lord, he is said to have "risen" among them. This is also why the Lord is called "the east" in the Bible.

Now I want to know why the brother who is a preacher isn't chiming in and how the elder is going to clean up this mess????

Here's some elder humor. How many elders does it take to change a light bulb?

Excuse me Elaine.

Keith, not bad. I'll pile on with the elder humor.

The story is told of a preacher who was trying out for the pulpit position. The elders met with the fellow and asked him to lay out a vision for their church should they choose to hire him.

The prospective preacher told of his vision of outreach and body ministry. Then he said, "...and finally I would attempt to bring this church into the 19th Century by the end of my first year." One of the elders spoke up and said, "Brother, don't you mean 21st century?"

The preacher replied, "No brother, I meant to say 19th because I'll do it one century at at time."
